The birthplace of Jan Jirik, the earliest known Klisinec Sismilich, is unknown; it may have been Prague. He was often referred to by his middle name, Jirik (George) in records of the time. Jirik and his wife Anna probably moved to Klisinec after they were married, since the first appearance of the Sismilich surname in the church records (matriky) of the Roman Catholic parish church in the town of Kovarov is in 1777. This first entry was for the birth of their son, Josef. At this time, and at least until 1783, Jirik and his family lived at house #11. Another son, Frantisek, was born in 1781; however, he died at the age of two months. A daughter, Mariana, was born in 1783. Sometime after this, the family moved to house #13, where twins were born in 1786; they were named Frantisek (it was not unusual to re-use the name of an infant who died) and Anna. Jirik was a stone-cutter. He must have been a good craftsman, since he was listed in these records as both a supervisor and a manager of other stone-cutters. His wife Anna, whose maiden name is unknown, was born in 1746 in Prague. Since she was 18 years younger than her husband, it is possible that she was Jirik's second wife. Anna died of a high fever on April 12, 1794 at the age of 48. Jirik survived her by 9 years; he was 75 years old at the time of his death on August 18, 1803. He died of a "poking cough".
